This is a recent painting by my mother, Pilar Bleza Milambiling, who paints for pleasure. She started painting just a few years ago. She has attended a few workshops, but, for the most part, is self taught (with a few suggestions from my father, my brother and I). She has always had an inclination towards the arts but pursued a career in journalism instead. She was once the foreign news editor for Balita but she also dabbled in fiction and had a couple of short stories published in Liwayway, one of the most respected tagalog magazines. She started painting religously when she resigned and makes it a point to have a new painting finished every two weeks.
